Collector Corm
Alocasia Bisma Corm
Grow a striking silver-toned collector Alocasia from a live corm. This listing is for the standard, non-variegated Bisma form.
One live Alocasia Bisma corm, not a mature plant.
The mature reference plant shows cool gray-green to silvery leaves with striking darker veins.
Bisma is a collector-market name; this listing does not claim a separate accepted botanical species.
Why Collectors Love It
Silvery sculptural leaves with pronounced dark veins.
Alocasia Bisma is sought after for a cool, metallic-looking palette that can range from green-gray to blue-silver depending on leaf maturity and lighting. The leaves of the reference plant are elongated and arrow-shaped, with deeply defined venation that creates a sculptural surface.
Growing a corm lets you watch the plant develop from the first shoot into its mature foliage. Expect natural differences in color, markings, shape and size from one plant to another.
Foliage Reference
- Elongated arrow-shaped foliage
- Silvery blue-gray to gray-green leaf tones
- Raised, strongly defined veins
- Darker vein channels and leaf margins
- Upright tropical growth habit
- Color and texture vary with growing conditions
Important Collector Note
Standard Bisma, not Platinum Albo.
This listing is for a non-variegated Alocasia sold under the Bisma name. It is not the separate Bisma Platinum Albo variegated selection. Bisma and related names circulate in horticulture as trade designations; identification and the appearance of individual plants may vary. The mature plant image is a growing reference, not the exact item shipped.
What You Will Receive
One carefully selected live corm.
Corms naturally vary in shape, exterior texture, size and stage of development. Surface discoloration or dry papery outer layers can be normal. A mature plant, pot and propagation medium are not included.
How To Start Your Corm
Warm. Humid. Moist, not waterlogged.
Use a clean container and gently moist propagation material. Keep the growth point oriented upward and avoid burying it too deeply. Consistent warmth and sensible airflow matter more than any single propagation medium.
Perlite
Rinse and lightly moisten the perlite. Nestle the corm shallowly with its growth point visible. Keep the medium damp rather than submerged.
LECA
Rinse clay pebbles and keep a modest water reservoir below the corm. Allow moisture to wick upward without keeping the corm underwater.
Sphagnum Moss
Moisten and squeeze out excess water. Place moss loosely around the base of the corm; avoid tightly packing wet moss against the growth point.
Fluval Stratum
Use a small amount of lightly damp substrate. Rest the lower part of the corm in contact with the media and monitor moisture carefully.
Puddle Method
Use a very shallow layer of clean water so the lower base contacts moisture while most of the corm stays above the waterline.
Airy Aroid Mix
Place the corm near the surface of a chunky, lightly damp mix with perlite, pumice or bark for aeration.
Environment
Sprouting conditions
- Warm, stable temperatures
- Elevated humidity
- Bright, indirect light
- Clean, lightly moist media
- Airflow to discourage stagnation
Avoid Rot
Check moisture, not a calendar.
Do not keep the corm in standing water unless following a carefully monitored shallow-water technique. If the corm becomes soft, mushy or foul smelling, review moisture, sanitation and airflow. A firm dormant corm may simply need more time.
After Sprouting
Help the new plant establish gradually.
Once healthy roots and leaves develop, transition gradually into a small pot with a free-draining aroid mix. Protect new foliage from harsh direct sun and temperature swings. Increase light and adjust watering as the root system matures. Silvery leaf tones may look different with age and environment.
